What Chairs Are Saying:

Len Rhodes ICD.D
Chair of Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis;Â Vice Chair at Western Canada Lottery Corporation
As Chair of a Board, I am getting incredible value from the Just for Chairs program from Ozone Advisory Group. Mary Cameron and Darren Rawson have found the perfect formula for helping us be more effective in our desire to lead high performance Boards. Just for Chairs brings a pragmatic approach to navigating through today’s governance challenges. My fellow participants make for a vibrant learning experience based on the wide range of experience and skills that they bring to the room.
Just for Chairs makes me feel a bit better each time I come out of a session. It instills a feeling of newness, humility, and endless possibilities. I can’t wait for my next board meeting whereby I can apply some of the great concepts that I have taken away from my most recent session. As Board Chair of Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), Just for Chairs is my single best investment of time when it comes to my personal development.

The Just for Chairs program offered by Ozone Advisory is absolutely invaluable for Board Chairs. Mary and Darren offer outstanding content, superior to what is commonly available in the professional development space. They hit on topics, practices and experiences that are impactful for Chairs. Beyond that, the peer group in the sessions is filled with experienced business leaders who provide great guidance in thought provoking breakout discussions.
The sessions are can’t miss in my calendar!

This program serves as an excellent platform for gaining insights and promoting collective growth in corporate governance. The high-quality content provided by Mary and Darren, along with peer group discussions with a diverse group of experienced business leaders, is invaluable and inspiring. For professional development as a Chair, I would highly recommend it.

Darin Rayburn ICD.D
President/Partner Real Estate Equity Partners KV Capital
I joined Just For Chairs with an expectation of some thought provoking discussions. What I wasn’t anticipating was how with each session, in addition to the meaningful discussions on relevant topics, I also forged connections amongst business leaders across all industries and experienced the deep learnings and enthusiastic sharing of best practises that came out.
Thank you to Mary and Darren for setting the stage at each session, bringing forth timely and relevant topics, and facilitating interactive discussions specifically designed to encourage deep group interactions. The experience and learning are invaluable and in a world where “return on one’s time” is so critical, the Just For Chairs program absolutely nails it!

Sam Jenkins ICD.D
Managing Partner Punchcard Systems; Chair Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Winspear
Serving as a board chair can be an incredibly rewarding experience, but it can also be lonely and complex. For me, participating in Just for Chairs provides something rare: a space to connect with other board leaders, share real challenges, and explore practical tools for stronger board governance.
The cohort model provides a rhythm of reflection, where I walk away not just with fresh strategies, but a deeper sense of confidence in my role. This, in turn, provides greater clarity about how I can better support the organizations in which I serve.
As with all of Ozone’s programs, the facilitation was exceptional, and if you’re currently a chair, this program is smart investment in your leadership.

Terry Freeman ICD.D
Head of Investments ATB Private Equity LP; Board Director Macquarie Corp.
Being part of the Just for Chairs program keeps me engaged with practical ideas for making the Boards I am part of function effectively. Hearing from other Board Chairs about their challenges and discussing them with a group of peers allows the entire group to raise their level in making corporate governance better. I took a year away from the program based on scheduling challenges and really missed it, and rejoined at the first opportunity!

Robert Patzelt LLM K.C. ICD.D
Deputy Chair Nova Scotia WCB; Chair of PACE Atlantic Community Interest Corp.
Joining the 'Just for Chairs' peer group is a valuable step in anyone's governance journey, especially if you are new to the role. Mary and Darren bring deep expertise and insightful facilitation. There is something special that comes from the richness of dialogue with fellow Chairs. The diversity of experience, candor of discussion, and shared commitment to good governance creates a great learning environment.
